The International Folk Festival "Montana" takes place in the District center of Northwest Bulgaria - Montana. The event is devoted to the Day of Montana orthodox fest Saint Spirit (Monday, 51 days after easter)
The mission of the festival is popularizing folk heritage as a unique bearer of national identity and the mutual acquaintance of cultures and traditions in order to enhance tolerance and to create preconditions for intensive cultural exchanges. The festival doesn't have a competitive character.
The folk dance ensembles from different countries are invited to participate in the International Folk Festival ”Montana". There are no age limitations. The groups may perform their program with accompaniment of live music or with CD-records. The choice depends on the preferences of the group. It is allowed to use electronic music.
The concerts included in the festival program take place on the open-air stage at the central square of Montana. There are accompanying conceits in the neighboring villages near Montana.
